All That God Has Prepared for Those Who Love Him

All That God Has Prepared  for Those  Who Love Him

Sometimes we look  in total dismay  at the things  in this world.     The rich seem  to get richer  and the poor poorer.     The “successful” seem  to get more  “successful”,  while others  just get by.      Some people seem  to have all sorts  of  “blessings” — and they certainly don’t have  any regard  for the Lord  or His ways.     So,  what gives?     What are we missing?     Why don’t we have  all this stuff?

In 1 Corinthians 2:9,  Paul quotes Isaiah,  saying,

“Things which eye  has not seen  and ear  has not heard,
And which have not entered  the heart  of man,
All  that God has prepared  for those who love Him.”

There is a wisdom  of God  that is hidden  from the people  of the world.     The world revels  in material riches  and all sorts of worldly ideals,  but everything they have  is short-lived.     They are fooled  into thinking  they have everything  anyone could ever desire — but,  what they think they have   will all be taken away  in the twinkling  of the eye.

The Christian realizes  that none  of this stuff  on earth  can be taken with us  when we die.     So,  all the so-called riches  on this earth  are not important  to God’s children.    We contentedly live  from day to day  trusting  in the Lord’s  care  and guidance.     With God  by our side,  we are on our way  to heaven  where all our eternal riches  and glory  are waiting.    We can be totally content  and satisfied  passing by everything  that pretentiously glitters  in this world.     None  of what is in this world  is appealing  because it has no lasting value.     We don’t have  to try  and be “King-on-the-hill”  for anyone   in this dying world.     We don’t have  to feel troubled  about not having worldly things.     Worldly things  have absolutely nothing  to do with true success  in life.

Our riches on earth  include the wisdom  of having God  for our Friend — having the forgiveness  of all our sins — having the assurance  of God’s faithful love — having God  as our Rock  and Fortress  in this life — knowing Jesus  is our Good Shepherd  and that He will  safely guide us  through our trials.     This  and so much more  is all ours  when we put our faith  in our Lord and Savior.

These are the kinds  of riches  everyone should be  striving for.     If we don’t possess  all these spiritual blessings,  we are poor indeed.     In actuality,  those who are tied  to their earthly possessions  are the most unwise  and poverty stricken  in all the world.

It is all  as the psalmists writes  in Psalm 119:57,   “The LORD is my portion.”      When we have the LORD  as our God  and Savior,  we have all that we need.

In our dying hour,  our popularity,  gold,  successes,  houses,  cars,  clothes,  and whatever  will be of no comfort  to us.     Over and above  all this stuff,   we need God  in our lives.     With God our Savior,  all things  are ours  for all eternity.     When we treasure God  now,  our earthly dying hour  will actually be  a grand home coming,  filled with joy  and peace.

Let us always stay close  to our Savior  by sticking  to His word  and spending time  in prayer.     The better we get  to know our Lord,  the more content  we will be  with His care.      Then we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  You are our Treasure.     There is no greater possession  in all the world.”

Love,
Margaret
