The Righteous Man  Will Be Glad  in the LORD  and Will  Take Refuge  in Him

There is a right  and decent way  of being.     It is proper  and fitting  to thank others  for the nice things  they have done.     It is rude  and grossly distasteful  to refuse  to thank others.

Our behavior  towards our Creator Redeemer  also needs  to be right  and decent.     So often,  people do not give the LORD  the thanks due  to Him.     Day after day,  moment by moment,  God protects us  from those  who want to do evil.     When our faith  is severely tested  by some disaster,  the LORD gives us  the strength  to endure  and become stronger  in the true faith.

As we trust  in the LORD  and thankfully realize  His loving care,  Psalm 64:10  blossoms forth:

The righteous man  will be glad  in the LORD,  and will take refuge  in Him;
And all the upright  in heart  will glory.

As he comes through  a terrible trial,  “the righteous man  will be glad  in the LORD”.     That is  to give all glory,  honor,  and thanks  to the LORD.     “The righteous man”  does not pat himself  on the back  and proclaim  how great he was  in getting through the trial  by his own wit  and strength.     Rather,  he gives honor  where honor is due.     It is due  to the LORD.     God is the one  who worked all things  for good.

And then,  “the righteous man”  does another right thing  —  he  “will take refuge  in Him”.     “The righteous man”  most lovingly  and gladly  takes  “refuge  in Him”.     We go to God our Savior  for “refuge”  because that is the right thing  to do.     Because God  is our heavenly Father,  He greatly desires us  to come  to Him alone  for the  “refuge”  we need.     He is the only one  who can truly  meet our needs.

Think how earthly parents feel  when their children  don’t trust  or respect them enough  to go to them  with their problems.     Love  trusts and respects.     Love gladly gives thanks.

Resting  in the refuge  of our LORD,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  thank You  for Your love  so strong  and faithful,  as You save us  in Christ Jesus.”

Love,
Margaret
