While I Have My Being
While I Have My Being
Our time on earth is limited. Some get more time than others. However much time we have, it is good to realize time well-spent here is a time of drawing near to our Creator Redeemer. All the rest of eternity will either be spent in heaven with the LORD of all — or away from the LORD of which Jesus said…….,
…in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 8:12)
Those in heaven will be there simply because they believed and trusted in God’s loving salvation — as Jesus said in John 6:47,
Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.
Because of this we have good reason to be downright happy and thankful for God’s mercy on all believers. A happy heart likes to express itself with singing. And so, a psalmist sang in Psalm 146:2,
I will praise the LORD while I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
“While I live” — “While I have my being”. This psalmist knew how right and good it is to praise God Almighty now. Now is the time to acknowledge that God not only created us, but that He sustains us from day to day. Now is the time to believe and trust in God — and to acknowledge His eternal authority, power, and loving salvation in Christ Jesus alone.
“Funny” — but not at all funny it is that people have all sorts of excuses for not singing “praises” to the LORD. For those who “believe” that God exists, but refuse to love, trust, thank, and worship Him, James 2:29 says,
You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.
The “demons” “shudder” because they refuse to love, obey, and trust in God’s love for all. They defiantly want things their way, instead of God’s way. They don’t want to be under God’s authority of humble love, mercy, and free gift of eternal salvation. What a burden of defiance.
Knowing the beauty and peace of God’s love, we say, “Hallelujah! LORD, I will sing Your praises now and forever.”
A Christian devotional to glorify the LORD of lords and GOD of gods.
Pray for our country.
The LORD made this day, let us rejoice and be glad in Him.
The word of the LORD is tried;
He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones;
Praise is becoming to the upright.
How blessed are those who dwell in Thy house!
They are ever praising Thee.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.
Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
