This  Is the Word

We tend  to want  to do things  the easiest way possible  —  even the things concerning  our salvation.     But,  it’s mind boggling  how much the saints  of the past  went through  because of their faith.     They didn’t take the easy route through life  —  but went the hard way through faith,  hope,  and a true love.     We can think  of Moses,  Daniel,  Isaiah,  Jeremiah,  Peter,  Paul,  John  and so many others.

They all spent their whole lives  to preserve  the truths  of God  and His salvation  in Christ Jesus.     When the Apostle Peter spoke  of this,  he fervently pointed out  that our faith  is based  on the eternal truths  of God.     Each person’s life  is so short.     We can be productive  for only a short time  —  and then we are gone  from this life.

In spite  of the shortness  of our lives,  1 Peter 1:25  declares,

BUT THE WORD  OF THE LORD  ENDURES  FOREVER.”
And this is the word  which was preached  to you.

We have  the eternal  “word of the LORD”  in the Bible.     What are we going  to do with it?     Do we really want it  to guide  our lives  —  or not?

So many  only want to hear  about how “they” will live  in God’s glory forever.     They don’t want  to hear anything  about their sin  and how sin  can lead people  to eternal destruction.     To call the sins  of this world  “sin”  is politically incorrect.     People only want  to be reminded  of the good things  they have done.

But,  that would  not be declaring  the honest truths  of God’s word  to us.     Instead of fearfully trying  to “look good”,  we need  to admit  our sinfulness  and the truths  of Jude 1:25,

…….to the only God  our Savior,  through Jesus Christ  our Lord,  be glory,  majesty,  dominion  and authority,  before all time  and now  and forever.     Amen.

Jesus saves us  —  not our own pretentious goodnesses  or  purposeful blindness.

Thankfully glorifying Jesus,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  only You  can save us  as Your eternal word  has declared.”

Love,
Margaret
