The Time  Will Come

Christians need  to be aware  of the growing number  of false teachings  in many churches.     In an effort  to be politically correct  and increase their membership,  there are church leaders  who are very willing  to compromise  God’s word  so they can become popular.     Often  their church emphasis is more on providing church activities  than on preaching God’s truths  of salvation.     They usually don’t mention sins,  preferring to not offend anyone.

That is totally opposite  of how Jesus  and His followers  spread God’s word.     They strongly pointed out sins  and the dire consequences  of Judgment Day.     Not only that,  but the early church did not  provide fun activities  for every age level.     People came  and listened to them  in order  to learn God’s word  and the promises  of forgiveness  and eternal life  for all who believed  in Jesus’ salvation.     Learning God’s word was their top priority.

It’s different today  as Paul prophesied  in 2 Timothy 4:3,

For the time  will come  when they will not endure sound doctrine;  but wanting  to have their ears tickled,  they will accumulate  for themselves teachers  in accordance  to their own desires.

That “time”  is here.     People want liberal teachings  —  no mention  of sin  —  activities of every sort  —  and comforting pats  on the back  —  not to mention a good looking church they can be proud of.     They are puffed up with self-righteousness  as no one dares to point out their flagrant sins.     Maybe they imagine  that when people don’t mention their sins,  God will not mention them either.     But,  Paul wrote  in 1 Timothy 5:24,

The sins  of some men  are quite evident,  going before them  to judgment;  for others,  their sins  follow after.

God is righteous  and just.     Those who confess  their sins  and change their ways  by faith  in Jesus alone  are the ones who are forgiven  and able  to enter heaven.     Those who hide their sins  and continue  in them  will be eternally judged  for their stubborn evils.

Thankful  for God’s eternal word  in this “time”  of testing,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for opening our hearts  and minds  to the beauty  of Your eternal truths.”

Love,
Margaret
