Faith Comes…….

There is no way  we can believe something  we have never heard about.     If we have never heard  any sort  of information  about Mars  or Venus,  we could not know  any information  about them.     We have probably heard  about their existence  —  but know nothing  about their actual properties.

The same is true  about salvation  through Jesus Christ alone.     Many  have heard Jesus’ name  —  and possibly have heard  a couple Bible verses regarding Him.     But,  they don’t have a clue  about Jesus being prophesied  from the beginning  of time  —  coming to earth exactly  as prophesied  —  and thoroughly washing away   absolutely all  of our sins  through faith.     Those are amazing facts  unknown  to many.     Many people  might not even think  of themselves  as sinners  worthy only  of eternal damnation.

So,  Romans 10:17  points out,

Faith comes  from hearing,  and hearing  by the word  of Christ.

A true faith does not come  from some false preacher.     A true faith  can only come  “by the word  of Christ”.     If we hear only the words  of a false preacher,  we won’t have a true  “faith”.     We need to hear  the truth  about “Christ”.     It is only that truth  that sets us free  from our sins  and the ways  of this world.

You will know the truth,  and the truth  will make you free.       John 8:32

Paul felt so strongly  about our personal need  for Christ  in our hearts  that he prayed  in Ephesians 3:17-19,

…so that Christ may dwell  in your hearts  through faith;  and that you,  being rooted  and grounded  in love,  may be able  to comprehend  with all the saints  what is the breadth  and length  and height  and depth,  and to know the love  of Christ  which surpasses knowledge,  that you may be filled up  to all the fullness  of God.

That is our goal.

In the faith  that is honestly “rooted  and grounded”  in Christ’s love,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  open up our hearts  to know You rightly.”

Love,
Margaret
