The LORD  Nullifies  the Counsel  of the Nations

People around the globe  are concerned  with the corruption  in every nation  and government.     Everything seems so  out of control.     What can ordinary citizens do?     The corrupt governments seem  to direct  every aspect  of our lives.

Ordinary citizens  have noted these problems  for thousands  of years  —  and had deep concerns  about the end times.     The writer  of Psalm 33  wants  to give everyone  a few reminders.

Of all things,  this psalmist wants us  to remember  God’s power  in all  of creation.     In speaking  of creation  he adds  in Psalm 33:9,

For He spoke,  and it was done;
He commanded,  and it  stood fast.

It’s important  to think about that.     The LORD did not have  to painstakingly  put forth  all kinds  of efforts  for eons  of time  to complete this creation.     Rather,  He simply  “spoke,  and it was done”.     That takes a power  far beyond  our imagination.     Since the beginning  of creation,  the LORD  has been sustaining  everything  He created  on earth  and far beyond.     That takes power.     God is in control.

Therefore,  we need  to realize  the bottom line truth  of Psalm 33:10-11,

The LORD nullifies  the counsel  of the nations;
He frustrates  the plans  of the peoples.
The counsel  of the LORD stands forever,
The plans  of His heart  from generation  to generation.

God is in control  of all nations  —  no matter what  anyone imagines.     God has already told us  there will be an end  to this world  and a Judgment Day.     Peoples from the beginning  of time  have felt  that end  would come  in their life time.     Although no one has a clue  when Judgment Day will come,  we need  to live  as if our last day  will be today.     That means living with trust,  faith,  hope,  and love.     God will take care  of the rest.

The times are  to be challenging,  but God has promised  to be with all His children.

Trusting God’s love  in Christ  and power  in creation,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  let Your will be done.”

Love,
Margaret
