Watch Out That the Light in You Is Not Darkness

July 8, 2016

Watch Out  That the Light  in You  Is Not Darkness

We have  all sorts  of things  that seemingly  make us “smart”  —  TV,  Internet,  schools,  universities,  books,  “scientific studies”,  etc.    We are often told  that we are sooo  special.     With all that “info”,  it’s not hard  for people  to really believe  they are “smart”.     They   (even Christians)  become “smart” enough  to disregard  God’s plain words  in the Bible  —  “smart” enough  to freely follow  evil,  worldly life styles,  cults,  and denials  of God’s existence.

The problem is that people are being fooled  into imagining  that denying God’s word  in the Bible  is the “smart” thing to do.     But,  Jesus warned us  in Matthew 6:23,

If your eye  is bad,  your whole body  will be full  of darkness.     If then  the light  that is in you  is darkness,  how great  is the darkness!

Wow!     If we look at things  as this evil world  looks at them,  our whole beingwill be  full  of darkness”.     Evil and sin  will dominate everything  we think.     Then,  “how great  is the darkness”.     Upon accepting  the ways  of this world,  we will be too dumb  and blind  to realize  the evil  that has trapped us.

That is why Jesus pleadingly warns us  in Luke 11:35,

Then  watch out  that the light  in you  is not darkness.

We definitely must  “watch out”  for all the teachings  in this world.     They are not here  to help us.     Rather,  they are trying  to deceive us  as Satan deceived Eve  in the Garden  of Eden.     That is why  Jesus tells us  in Matthew 10:16,

Be shrewd  as serpents  and innocent  as doves.

We must be sharp enough  to always  be aware  of the wicked deceitfulness  of this world.     And,  we must keep our whole lives  “innocent”  for the sake  of Jesus’ love.

So, —  we trust every single word  in the Bible  about what is evil  and what is good.     For our own eternal good,  we abide  in God’s word  —  no matter what the world says,  i.e.  political correctness,  “scientific studies”,  media info, etc..

Resting  in God’s eternal word,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for never changing your eternal word.”

A Christian devotional  to glorify  the LORD of lords  and GOD of gods.

Pray for our country.
