He  Who Believes  in the Son  Has Eternal Life

People can have all sorts  of doubts  about “eternal life”  for them personally.      But,  when John the Baptist preached  to the people  about Jesus,  he proclaimed  in John 3:36,

He who believes  in the Son  has eternal life;  but he who does not obey  the Son  will not see life,  but the wrath  of God abides  on him.

That’s a powerful truth  everybody needs  to take  to heart.     We can be totally assured  Jesus truly is  the promised Savior  because He fulfilled  all the prophesies  about the Savior.     This Jesus,  who is called the King of kings,  Lord of lords,  Redeemer,  Shepherd,  and so much more  throughout all  of scripture  is repeatedly proven  to be the one-and-only Savior,  with the power  to grant eternal life  to all  who believe  in Him.

And,  that’s the key.     Only  “he who believes  in the Son  has eternal life”.     John the Baptist also said,  “he who does not obey the Son  will not see life,  but the wrath  of God abides  on him.”

So, what does a person have  to do to “obey the Son”?     Jesus answers that  in John 6:29,

This is the work  of God,  that you believe  in Him  whom He has sent.

That’s our one job  —  to believe  only  in Jesus  to save us  from our sins  and grant us “eternal life”.

That might sound easy,  but oh how many people find it hard.     They imagine they have to do so many good works  —  they have to follow certain religious leaders  —  they have to do certain religious rites  in order to become worthy,  etc., etc.

But,  Jesus says,  “No!”  to all those man-made rules.     We only need  to “believe”  that Jesus’  shed blood  on the cross  has totally paid  the penalty  for all  of our sins.     God’s word  from beginning  to end  supports  what Jesus said.     Just  “believe”.

In relief,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  You alone  have done all  that needs  to be done  in granting us  eternal life.     Thank You.”

Love,
Margaret
