The Righteous God  Tries the Hearts  and Minds

The holy LORD God  is righteous  in absolutely all  He does.     That truth  might bug us  a bit  when we’re experiencing  all sorts  of overwhelming troubles.     But,  when King David  experienced life-threatening troubles,  he ran straight  to the LORD  for help.     David prayed  that if he was guilty  of any crime  —  even against his enemy  —  that God Almighty would let  that enemy  “trample my life down  to the ground.”

That’s a courageous prayer.     But,  David knew  in his heart  that he had not done evil,  even to his enemy.     That is why  he could bravely pray  that God would judge  the evil attacks  of his enemies.          David confidently prayed  in Psalm 7:8-9,

The LORD judges the peoples;
Vindicate me,  O LORD,  according to my righteousness  and my integrity  that is  in me.
O let the evil  of the wicked  come  to an end,  but establish  the righteous;
For the righteous God  tries the hearts  and minds.

David praised God  for shielding him  and righteously judging the unrepentant.     He acknowledged  God’s battles against all  “wickedness”.     And then,  David sang  about how the falsehood  of the wicked  brings a violent judgment  upon their own heads.

David glorified,  praised,  and thanked  God Almighty  for assuredly bringing about justice  in the end  according to God’s righteousness.

That’s something we need  to remember  in our trying times.     It is God  who has always proven  to be true,  faithful,  and righteous  in all His ways.     We just need  to remember that  as we glorify,  praise,  and thank the LORD  for His righteousness.

Resting  in God’s love  and power,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for ruling  over all things  in righteousness.”

Love,
Margaret
