Their Deceitfulness  Is Useless

Down through the ages,  all of God’s children  have in some way  or another  been belittled,  mocked,  rejected,  and martyred  for having a strong faith  in the LORD God Almighty.     The people  of this world  want to either mold their own gods  or  twist the LORD’s words  to suit their own particular fancy  —  or so-called “spirituality”.

As the writer  of Psalm 119  was rejected,  he strongly  held onto  God’s eternal word,  and sang  to God  in Psalm 119:114,

You are my hiding place  and my shield;
I wait  for Your word.

He refused  to cave in  to the “double-minded”,  who pretended  to be true  to the LORD,  but insisted  on changing God’s word  —  interpreting it  to their own liking,  so they could justify living  in their sins.     This psalmist  put his whole trust  in God’s eternal word  because he respected  and honored  God’s authority,  power,  and saving love  through faith  in the Savior.     Because  he knew  God’s righteousness,  he sang  to God  in verse 118,

You have rejected  all those  who wander  from Your statutes,
For their deceitfulness  is useless.

God does indeed  reject everyone  who twists  His word  —  His “statutes”.     Those  who manipulate  God’s word  to lead others  away from God  will find that  “their deceitfulness  is useless”.      The  “double-minded”  will be judged  unto eternal condemnation,  because they refused  to reverence  God’s truths.     We need  to keep  in mind  that many  of these  “double-minded”  are infiltrating  the church,  pretending  to be true Christians.     They make out like they are good,  faithful,  and close to God.

But,  when one sees  that their words  do not match God’s eternal word,  we need  to point that out  —  and reject them.

Leaning  on God’s eternal word,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for leading us  in Your truths.”

Love,
Margaret
