Restoring the Soul

For every time  we feel down  and out,  we need  to be restored  to the actual truth  of our being.     In Psalm 19:7,  David gives us  the long  and the short  of it.     To this  we need  to pay attention.     David says,

The law  of the LORD  is perfect,  restoring the soul;
The testimony  of the LORD  is sure,  making wise  the simple.

In all  our troubles,  we need  to wise up.     It is only  in going  back  to the LORD’s ways  that our souls  can be restored.     The LORD  only asks faith,  hope,  and love  from those  who look  to Him.    All that God wants  from us  “is perfect”  —  not perfection,  but what is right  in faith,  according to His eternal word.    That’s saying God wants us  to have faith  in Jesus,  hope  in His promises  for our futures,  and love for our Creator Redeemer,  along with love  for our fellow Christians.

Everything  God wants  from His creation  “is perfect”.     It is  what is right  and good  in all holiness.     God’s  “law”  is  “perfect”,  in that it leads us  to live  according to what is right  and good  in God’s holy eyes.     We should not look  to mankind’s evil  and sinful opinions  —  but only  to what is honestly holy  in God’s eyes.     He alone  is the Creator  and Sustainer  of all.

Therefore,  “The testimony  of the LORD  is sure,  making wise  the simple”.     We pay attention  to all  of God’s word  —  His “testimony”.

As we trust  in God’s ways  of living,  our souls  will  be restored  to living  according to God’s word.

Restored  to life  with our LORD,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  Your ways  are beautifully  and wondrously right  and good.”

Love,
Margaret
