Rejoicing the Heart
Rejoicing the Heart
What makes your “heart” really rejoice? That’s something to honestly think about and admit to. Is it some sort of power within your realm of life? Is it money? How about a particular job or authority over others?
Most everybody’s reason for rejoicing in their “heart” is a bit different. King David’s “heart” rejoiced in Psalm 19:8 because,
The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Now that’s something to think about. So many despise and hate “the precepts of the LORD”. But, the bottom line is God’s “precepts” “are right, rejoicing the heart“. How is that?
First, a “precept” is a rule of moral conduct. It is God’s teaching — our Creator’s teaching. God teaches us what is morally right and holy in respect to all of creation and our being on this earth. The peace of seeing and realizing what is honestly, morally right, in accordance with God’s eternal word, leads one to rejoice in their “heart”. It’s just good to see and know for sure that God’s “precepts” really are wondrously far above anything this evil world imagines. They’re just filled with righteousness. love, mercy and forgiveness. That rejoices “the heart” that realizes the importance of this in their lives.
Maybe that’s why Psalm 119 declares the following,
From Your precepts I get understanding;
Therefore I hate every false way. Psalm 119:104
Redeem me from the oppression of man,
That I may keep Your precepts. Psalm 119:134
I keep Your precepts and Your testimonies,
For all my ways are before You. Psalm 119:168
We are all in God’s hands and we need to pray for His mercy in showing us His “precepts” and “rejoicing” our “heart”.
Leaning on God’s “precepts” of faith, hope, and love, we say, “Hallelujah! LORD, Your righteous ways are marvelously glorified in all of Your creation.”
A Christian devotional to glorify the LORD of lords and GOD of gods.
Pray for our country.
The LORD made this day, let us rejoice and be glad in Him.
The word of the LORD is tried;
He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones;
Praise is becoming to the upright.
How blessed are those who dwell in Thy house!
They are ever praising Thee.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.
Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
