The Fear  of the LORD  Is Clean

We would all like God  to see us  as pure and holy  —  His own dear children.     That way  we will be most welcomed  into heaven.     What a relief!

But,  how do we get  to be pure and holy  —  God’s own dear children?     Psalm 19:9  tells us,

The fear  of the LORD  is clean,  enduring forever.

We all need  to deeply believe  and respect  the LORD  in all  of our living.     This kind of “fear”  is an honest reverence  that lovingly guides  our way  of living.     We need  to realize  and remember  that the LORD  is our eternal Judge,  even as He dearly loves us  —  and He fully knows  our every thought  and intent.     We can’t hide anything  from Him.    Our reverence  for God is to be morally  and ethically  “clean”.     That means,  we need  to be honest  about actually respecting the LORD,  our Creator Redeemer.

Other Bible verses  give us guidance  in thinking  about our faithreverence,  and respect  for God Almighty.     A few include:

Worship the LORD  with reverence
And rejoice  with trembling.     Psalm 2:11

Who understands  the power  of Your anger
And Your fury,  according to the fear  that is due You?     Psalm 90:11

The fear  of the LORD  is the beginning  of wisdom;
A good understanding  have all those  who do His commandments;
His praise endures forever.     Psalm 111:10

The fear  of the LORD  is  to hate evil;
Pride and arrogance  and the evil way
And the perverted mouth,  I hate.     Proverbs 8:13

Here we learn  that we must be reverent  in faith  —  the LORD is angry with all sin  —  if we’re wise,  we will rightly believe,  respect,  and obey God  —  and we must hate evil  as the LORD hates all evil.     Honestly hating evil  will guide us  in rightly living  in faith,  hope,  and love.

There will never  be an end  to our need  to respect the LORD.     In love,  that is what we automatically do,  saying,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  Your ways are holy forever.”

Love,
Margaret
