The Judgments  of the LORD

As sinful  human beings,  we often have poor “judgment”  of various sorts.     Our poor  “judgment”  could be in something as unimportant as matching colors  to as important as  how we choose  to live our lives.     We need good “judgment”  for the kinds  of friends  we have  —  a rightful faith  in the LORD  —  and for keeping away  from temptations  to do wrong,  etc.

One cannot  always trust  the “judgment”  of another sinner  like us.     But  we do need  to trust  God’s  “judgment”  as being the right way  to go.     King David says  in Psalm 19:9-11,

The judgments  of the LORD  are true;  they are righteous  altogether.
They are more desirable  than gold,  yes,  than much fine gold;
Sweeter also  than honey  and the drippings  of the honeycomb.
Moreover,  by them  Your servant  is warned;
In keeping them  there is great reward.

The judgments  of the LORD  are true”  and  “righteous”.     We can see this  in His word  in the Bible  as He shows us  His standard  for loving Him  as our Creator,  Redeemer,  and Sustainer  —  and loving our neighbors  as ourselves.     We are  to love  because we are loved  by God.     With God’s  “judgments”  everyone is treated fairly  with love.     That way no one needs  to suffer wrongs.

In righteousness,  God warns us  against doing evil  —  and promises the “great reward”  of eternal life  to all  who live  by His holy word.     In other words,  God’s  “judgments”  are wondrously right  and holy.     They show His awesome,  eternal wisdom  and love.

It is wise  to let  “the judgments  of the LORD”  guide our lives,  so that we may live  in truth,  righteousness,  and love.     Then we will learn  to know  our  eternal Creator,  Redeemer King.

Realizing  the beauty  of God’s love  for us  in Christ Jesus,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for teaching us  Your most holy ways  through Your eternal word.”

Love,
Margaret
