The One  You Discipline

Those who are undisciplined  are not able  to stay  on task  and do a job well,  because they want to do  what they want  to do  —  when they want  to do it  —  and how they want  to do it.     Since none of their work  is satisfactory,  even to them,  they are usually dissatisfied  and frustrated.     It shows  in further  undisciplined actions  as they don’t like instructions of any sort.

The writer  of Psalm 94,  had a totally different outlook  on life.     He sang  in Psalm 94:12,

Blessed  is the one  You discipline,  LORD,
The one You teach  from Your law.

This psalmist was very thankful  for the way  God disciplined him.     He knew it meant  that he would have to face  various afflictions  to test  and prove his faith.     He knew it meant  that he would have  to keep a strong faith  even as the wicked  would mock him  and do all sorts  of ungodly things  to God’s children.

But,  in all that,  he was in awe  of God’s almighty power  in all  of creation  and in caring specifically  for him.     Here is Almighty God  —  and God stoops down low  to help this poor,  unimportant man  in his troubles.    The LORD God cares enough  about each  and every one of us  to pay attention  to our every thought  and feeling.     God cares in teaching us  from His “law”  —  His righteous ways  —  so that we might know  the beauty  of His true love.

If we don’t learn  the beautiful goodness  of God’s “law”,  we’ll never have a clue  about an honest love,  true justice,  or the comfort  of God’s  eternal righteousness.

So,  we pray  that God would teach  and “discipline” us  through His word,  that we may be “blessed”  forever.

Thankful  for God’s  “discipline”  and love,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  all Your ways  are awesomely good.     Keep us close  to Your heart.”

Love,
Margaret
