Knowing That They Produce Quarrels

Knowing That They Produce Quarrels
The Bible presents doctrines that are absolutely necessary for eternal salvation — like the need to have faith in Jesus only for forgiveness and salvation. We need to believe that Jesus is God come down to save us and trust that He forgives our sins.
There are also many other things presented in the Bible that are not essential to our eternal salvation. An example is the interpretation of the end days as presented in Revelation. Jesus specifically stated that no one will know just when the end will come, but we need to be aware that it could be at any time.
Because God’s wisdom does not let us know specifics about some things, people wonder and come up with possibilities that are different from another person’s theories. That’s fine and okay because our theories are not necessary for eternal salvation — and we should not imagine that they are necessary for salvation.
Insisting that others accept our theories for their salvation leads to unnecessary arguments that displease our Lord.
Some Bible verses to guide us in this could include,
But refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that they produce quarrels. 2 Timothy 2:23
… instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines, nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to mere speculation rather than furthering the administration of God which is by faith. But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 1 Timothy 1:3-5
But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and strife and disputes about the Law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. Reject a factious man after a first and second warning, knowing that such a man is perverted and is sinning, being self-condemned. Titus 3:9-11
Not wanting to sin regarding any of these non-essentials to our salvation, we simply say, “Hallelujah! LORD, thank You for Your merciful love in stooping to save us through faith in Christ Jesus.”
Love,
Margaret
