When My Heart Is Faint
When My Heart Is Faint
We all have overwhelming needs in our lives. There are so many different situations that can make us long for a safe place to rest. King David had many such times, so he prayed in Psalm 61:1-4,
Hear my cry, O God;
Give heed to my prayer.
From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For you have been a refuge for me,
A tower of strength against the enemy.
Let me dwell in Your tent forever;
Let me take refuge in the shelter of Your wings. Selah.
Whether it’s an “enemy” trying to do us in — a physical calamity — a job loss, or whatever, we do need to turn to the LORD for the refuge and strength we need.
Some people seem to not even think of going to God for the help they need. They imagine that they can do all things for themselves without God’s help. But, God wants us to realize our weaknesses and ask Him for help. Not asking God for help is a total disregard for His sovereign power and love for us.
If pride keeps one from asking God for help, that person will most likely harden their heart against God’s love and eventually lose their chance for eternal salvation. That would be a wasted life.
Life is so much better when we know God’s love and desire to help us over the humps and bumps of life.
Glad to have our Savior as our “refuge” and “tower of strength”, we say, “Hallelujah! Lord Jesus, thank You for listening to our prayers and keeping us safely close to You.”
A Christian devotional to glorify the LORD of lords and GOD of gods.
Pray for our country.
The LORD made this day, let us rejoice and be glad in Him.
The word of the LORD is tried;
He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones;
Praise is becoming to the upright.
How blessed are those who dwell in Thy house!
They are ever praising Thee.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.
Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
