To Revive the Spirit
To Revive the Spirit
We all get down at times. Life can be a real mess as we face temptations, let-downs, the guilt of our sins, the realization of our weaknesses, and on and on. We know that we are unimportant in the scope of all creation. Besides being unimportant, we’re totally incapable of leading a life that would be pleasing in the most holy LORD’s eyes.
God’s ways are beautifully and most perfectly good and right. They deserve to be followed. But, we fail to do what is good and right, even when we want to do what is good and right. We are sorry that we are always offending our Lord and Savior. It would be nice to be able to stop sinning against God Almighty — and always do what is right for a change.
God has something to say about that in Isaiah 57:15,
For thus says the high and exalted One
Who lives forever, whose name is holy,
“I dwell on a high and holy place,
And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit
In order to revive the spirit of the lowly
And to revive the heart of the contrite.
That’s most awesome! God Almighty lives (dwells) “with the contrite and lowly of spirit”. God wants to stay in our hearts “to revive the spirit of the lowly”. He wants to lift us up — realize that we are His beloved — and that He cares for us.
He knows we are sorry about our sins — and He’s glad and pleased that we realize them. He’s most glad that we want to live according to His ways.
Who could ask for anything more wondrous? God revives us through a humble faith in Christ Jesus.
With God living in our hearts, we are strengthened to joyfully live in His ways and say, “Hallelujah! LORD, thank You for stooping low to revive us.”
A Christian devotional to glorify the LORD of lords and GOD of gods.
Pray for our country.
The LORD made this day, let us rejoice and be glad in Him.
The word of the LORD is tried;
He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones;
Praise is becoming to the upright.
How blessed are those who dwell in Thy house!
They are ever praising Thee.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.
Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
