A Man’s Enemies  Will Be  the Members  of His Household

Jesus made some very strong statements  about what His followers  were to expect  in this life.     He told them that they would be hated  like He was hated.     Unbelievers would malign them  and seek  to kill them  —  just as they maligned Jesus and sought  to kill Him.

And yet,  Jesus told His followers  to not be afraid  of witnessing  about God’s truths  of salvation  through faith  in Christ.     He said that unbelievers  may kill the body  —  but they cannot kill the soul.     We stand strong in faith  because God Almighty  is able to “destroy both soul  and body  in hell”.   ( Matthew 10:28 )     God cares for every little detail  in our being  and He will judge everyone righteously  in the end.     That is why we don’t have to be afraid  of the hatred  of unbelievers.

Knowing we are  in God’s loving care,  we confess Jesus as Lord and Savior  —  and are warned against denying Him.

Then Jesus added something no one wants to experience.     He says  in Matthew 10:34-39,

Do not think  that I came  to bring peace  on the earth;  I did not come  to bring peace,  but a sword.     For I came  to set a man against his father,  and a daughter  against her mother,  and a daughter-in-law  against her mother-in-law;  and a man’s enemies  will be the members  of his household.

He who loves father  or mother more than Me  is not worthy  of Me;  and he who loves son  or daughter more than Me  is not worthy  of Me.     And he who does not take his cross  and follow after Me  is not worthy  of Me.     He who has found his life  will lose it,  and he  who has lost his life  for My sake  will find it.

In other words:

You shall love the LORD your God  with all your heart,  and with all your soul,  and with all your mind,  and with all your strength.       Mark 12:30

Considering  God’s eternal truth,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your steadfast love  in Christ Jesus.”

Love,
Margaret
