You Have Revealed Them  to Infants

In Matthew 11,  Jesus was totally disgusted  with the cities of Chorazin, Bethsaida  and Capernaum.     Despite the fact that Jesus had done many miracles  in these places,  they did not believe  or repent  of their sins.     Jesus so much as warned them  in Matthew 11:24,

It will be more tolerable  for the land  of Sodom  in the day  of Judgment,  than  for you.

Sodom was condemned  and destroyed  for all its wickedness  —  but,  they had not seen any miracles  like the people  of Chorazin,  Bethsaida,  and Capernaum saw.     In spite of seeing many miracles,  those people  were arrogant  and proud enough  to refuse  to repent  of their sins.

But,  there were humble  and repentant people  in other places.     Thinking of their simple faith  and thankful hearts,  Jesus proclaimed  in Matthew 11:25,

I praise You,  Father,  Lord of heaven  and earth,  that You  have hidden these things  from the wise  and intelligent  and have revealed them  to infants.

We need  to think  about that.     When people are arrogant  and proud enough  to imagine that they are  “wise  and intelligent”  enough  to despise their Creator Redeemer,  God Almighty withholds  the truths  of His being  and the way to eternal life.     They might think  they are smart  and savvy,  but they aren’t smart enough  to recognize the truth  of their being.     They despise all who believe  in Jesus,  but have no clue  what they are despising.     It’s sad.

So,  Jesus invites us  “infants”  in Matthew 11:28-29,

Come to Me,  all who are weary  and heavy-laden,  and I will  give you rest.     Take My yoke  upon you  and learn  from Me,  for I am gentle  and humble  in heart,  and you will find rest  for your souls.

As we gladly learn  from Jesus,  we exclaim,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  Your love  for us  is beautiful  and amazing.”

Love,
Margaret
