We Have Not Stopped Praying  For You

When the apostle Paul heard  that the Colossian congregation  was growing  in God’s grace  and truth,  he wrote  to them  and said  in Colossians 1:9-12,

For this reason,  since the day  we heard  about you,  we have not stopped praying  for you.     We continually ask God  to fill you  with the knowledge  of His will  through all the wisdom  and understanding  that the Spirit gives,  so that  you may live  a life worthy  of the Lord  and please Him  in every way:  bearing fruit  in every good work,  growing  in the knowledge  of God,  being strengthened  with all power  according to His glorious might  so that you may have great endurance  and patience,  and giving joyful thanks  to the Father,  who has qualified you  to share  in the inheritance  of His holy people  in the kingdom  of light.

What a mouthful  of ardent prayer.     We probably don’t know  if anyone  is praying for us  in this manner,  but  we can  ardently pray for all these things  for ourselves  and those we know.     And,  we should not stop praying  for these most necessary blessings.

We all need  “the knowledge  of His will”  in our Christian walk.     The “knowledge”  we really need  should not be  of our personal inclinations  —  but through “all the wisdom  and understanding  that the Spirit gives”.     That “wisdom  and understanding”  is found  only in God’s word  —  the Bible  —  which is by inspiration  of the Holy Spirit.

When we know  what God teaches us  in His word,  we will be strengthened  to “live a life worthy  of the Lord  and please Him  in every way”.     All that will help us  to endure our trials,  with patience  and joyful thanksgiving  —  because we know  God has made us  “His holy people  in the kingdom  of light”.

God’s blessings  of faith  are an awesome thing  to lead us  in this life,  so we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for leading us  in Your word  and strengthening us  in Your truths.”

Love,
Margaret
