Every Knee  Will Bow, Every Tongue  Will Confess

We probably all know someone  who rather hatefully thinks  they will never  “bow” down  to Jesus  or “confess” Jesus as Lord and God  over them.     But,  God’s word says otherwise  —  and God’s word has always proven  to be true  over thousands  of years.     So,  the apostle Paul instructs  the Philippian Christians  in Philippians 2:5-11,

Have this attitude  in yourselves  which was also  in Christ Jesus,  who, although He existed  in the form  of God,  did not regard equality  with God  a thing  to be grasped,  but emptied Himself,  taking the form  of a bond-servant,  and being made  in the likeness  of men.     Being found  in appearance  as a man,  He humbled Himself  by becoming obedient  to the point  of death,  even death  on a cross.     For this reason also,  God highly exalted Him,  and bestowed  on Him  the name  which is above  every name,  so that  at the name  of Jesus  every knee  will bow,  of those  who are in heaven  and on earth  and under the earth,  and that every tongue  will confess  that Jesus Christ  is Lord,  to the glory  of God the Father.

With awe  we note  that it doesn’t matter who one thinks they are  —   they will all “confess”  and “bow”,  whether they are  “in heaven”“on earth”,  or  “under the earth”,  i.e.  in hell.

We are  to be humble,  faithful,  and loving  as Christ Jesus was.     Even though Jesus  was God Almighty  in the flesh,  He still was humbly  totally subservient  to God above.      Although He was true God,  He was also true man.     Jesus was sinless  and perfectly obedient  as a humble man.     So, God will “exalt” Him above everyone  and cause everyone “in heaven”“on earth”,  and “under the earth”  to “bow” down and “confess”  Jesus as Lord and God,  come to save us.

Quite rightly,  we all need  to “have this attitude  in yourselves”,  so that we may joyfully  live  with Jesus  in heaven,  and say,  “Hallelujah!     Blessed be Your name,  Lord Jesus.”

Love,
Margaret
