Like a Tree  Firmly Planted  by Streams  of Water

As time goes on,  it seems like more people  are totally enveloped  by worldliness  and their sinful desires.     They don’t give a hoot  about God  —  not even acknowledging  that God exists.     Instead,  they are absorbed  with their day-to-day lives  and satisfying themselves  with whatever they think  is pleasurable  for the moment.

It’s not wise  to ignore  our Creator Redeemer  because He is the one-and-only way  to eternal life  —  and eternal condemnation is not pleasurable.     Therefore,  Psalm 1:1-3 says,

How blessed  is the man  who does not walk  in the counsel  of the wicked,
Nor stand  in the path  of sinners,
Nor sit  in the seat  of scoffers!
But  his delight is  in the law  of the LORD,
And in His law  he meditates  day and night.

He will be like a tree firmly planted  by streams  of water,
Which yields  its fruit  in its season
And  its leaf does not wither;
And  in whatever  he does,  he prospers.

Those who see  the beauty  and wonder  of God’s ways  will be greatly blessed  by the LORD.     Faith and love yield  good fruits.     God is not just talking about  worldly riches  —  but the riches  of eternal life,  which includes things like total peace,  love,  goodness,  no sickness,  no sadness,  no pain.     It will be so different  from this world.     It’s eternal life.

The wicked  in this world  might imagine  they are living the good life,  but Psalm 1:4-6 shows,

The wicked  are not so,
But they are like chaff  which the wind  drives away.
Therefore  the wicked  will not stand  in the judgment,
Nor sinners  in the assembly  of the righteous.
For the LORD  knows the way  of the righteous,
But  the way  of the wicked  will perish.

The wicked aren’t exactly happy now  as they live hatefully  towards others  —  and they won’t be happy  in eternity.     So,  wickedness accomplishes nothing satisfying  in the end.

As we “delight”  in God’s ways,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your almighty love.”

Love,
Margaret
