One Who Practices  Abomination  and Lying

We can probably be  rather sure  that almost every one  of us sinners  has told a fib  in their lifetime.     It might have been  in fear  of receiving punishment  for some other sort of wrong doing  —  in a desire  to not hurt another person’s feelings  —  or to hide an up-coming surprise  of some sort.

But,  most sadly,  we’ve probably seen  habitual liars,  who lie  to hatefully tear down  another person  —  to hide their corruption  and evil deeds  —  or to deceive others  so they can commit another evil.

God’s word  talks about lies,  and tells us  in Titus 1:2  that God cannot lie.     That is because of His perfect holiness.

On the other hand,  Jesus has told us  regarding the devil  in John 8:44,

He was a murderer  from the beginning,  and does not stand  in the truth  because there is  no truth  in him.     Whenever he speaks  a lie,  he speaks  from his own nature,  for he is a liar  and the father  of lies.

So,  if we are tempted  to lie  and do some evil,  we can know  that that temptation  is from the devil.     We need  to quickly ask Jesus for help  in standing for the truth.     “Lying” can become an evil habit.     We need  to remind ourselves  that Revelation 21:27  says about heaven,

Nothing unclean,  and no one  who practices abomination  and lying,  shall ever come  into it,  but only those whose names are written  in the Lamb’s book  of life.

Revelation 22:15  adds to that  by saying,

Outside  are the dogs  and the sorcerers  and the immoral persons  and the murderers  and the idolaters,  and everyone  who loves  and practices lying.

So,  even though “lying” seems  to be becoming  the norm  these days,  let us keep  our hearts  and minds clean  for Christ’s sake,  that we may joyfully enter heaven,  and say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  it is so good  to know  that You are the Way,  the Truth,  and the Life.”

Love,
Margaret
