The Word  Which He  Commanded

There are many  who claim  that the Bible  is no longer dependable.     They claim  that all sorts  of changes have been made over the years  so that now  it is corrupted  and cannot be trusted.     Can that be true?     People need  to check into that because  Psalm 105:8  says  about God,

He has remembered  His covenant  forever,
The word  which He commanded  to a thousand generations.

Other passages  say things like:

The sum  of Your word  is truth,
And every one  of Your righteous ordinances  is everlasting    Psalm 119:160

The grass withers,  the flower fades,
But the word  of our God  stands forever.     Isaiah 40:8

How can we know  and trust  that the many passages  like these  are true  and that we should be trusting all  of God’s word  —  the Bible?

Psalm 105  gives an account  of how God kept all  of His promises  to Abraham  and Jacob, by rescuing the Israelites  from slavery  in Egypt  and leading them  to the Promised Land.     God’s promises were made  around 640 years before  He carried them out.     That’s power.

Similarly,  God made many prophecies  through many prophets  regarding our Savior Jesus  and carried them all out  to the smallest detail  hundreds  and thousands of years later.     God is not weak  or incapable  of keeping His promises.     So,  when Psalm 105  tells us,  “He has remembered  His covenant  forever”,  we should see that  in all humbleness.     Check it all out  by reading God’s word  and considering the time frame  and archeological evidence.

To claim  that God’s word  in the Bible  is corrupted  becomes blasphemy  because one is claiming  that God is not capable  of keeping His promises  regarding His “everlasting”  word.     No one should dare  to call God a liar.

Praising God  for keeping all  of His promises  in Christ,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your eternal word  that teaches us Your truths.”

Love,
Margaret
