The Things  Which Are Not Seen

2 Corinthians 5:7   tells us,

We walk  by faith,  not by sight.

Our whole life  on earth is often referred to as a “walk”.     Some Bible verses speak  of us traveling  through this life.     Whatever our life circumstances,  going through this life  is a spiritual experience  and a physical experience.     We all live  in different places,  do different jobs, etc.     Through all  of our experiences  —  good and bad  —  God wants us  to “walk by faith,  not by sight”.

Some of our experiences  can seem devastating.     But, God still  wants us to  “walk by faith,  not by sight”.     We need  to see every experience  as a means  of learning  to trust God more  as we remember His love  in Christ,  so we  “walk by faith”.     Trusting God,  we learn  that God does indeed  work  all things  for our good  in the end,  which might be years  down the road.     ( Romans 8:28 )     God’s word  has many accounts  of God working  in people’s lives  as He tests them  with troubles  —  carries them through  —  and blesses them  in the end.

2 Corinthians 4:18  explains,

We look not  at the things  which are seen,  but at the things  which are  not seen;  for the things  which  are seen  are temporal,  but the things  which are not seen  are eternal.

We see  and feel sicknesses,  devastating storms,  and evils  of every sort  in this world.     But,  they are not  what we should  allow  to rob us  of  the ultimate truth  of God’s eternal love.     Instead,  in every trouble  we are to “look”  “at the things  which are  not seen”.

We cannot see heaven  or all the glories  of God  in heaven.     But,  by “faith”  we are to “look”  at all these  “eternal”  things  that God has promised us  in Christ.

Looking at “the things  which are  not seen”,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your eternal promises,  which strengthen us  to serve You  in truth.”

Love,
Margaret
