Do Not Remember  the Sins  of My Youth

There isn’t a single one  of us  who hasn’t sinned  in our life time.     Yes,  there are those  who arrogantly imagine  that their sins  can never be counted against them.     They actually think  they don’t have anything  to repent of.     But,  King David knew better than that.     David fervently prayed  in Psalm 25:7,

Do not remember  the sins  of my youth  or my transgressions;
According to Your lovingkindness  remember me,
For Your goodness’ sake,  O LORD.

King David  —  the beloved of the LORD  —  acknowledged all  of his sinfulness  —  not just one or two recent  so-called “mistakes”,  for which “someone else”  is always  to blame.          His confession was  to the LORD  —  and to the LORD he lifted up his soul  in faith,  hope,  and love.     David wanted  the LORD  to always continue teaching him  all that is right and good  in the LORD’s eyes.

Because  of God’s promises  in His word,  David was sure  that when the LORD  would teach him  in His word,  he would know  the right way  to live  in this world.     That’s exactly the way it is  for everyone.     When we abide  in God’s word only,  we are assured  that God will  “not remember the sins  of my youth”  for Jesus’ sake.     Instead,  by a growing faith  in Christ Jesus,  God forgives  and actually forgets  all  of our sins  —  that we may live  in the freedom  of His forgiving love.

Serving the LORD  as confessing  and forgiven sinners  for Jesus’ sake,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your gracious love  and goodness  in forgiving us  absolutely all  our sins.”

Love,
Margaret
