They Shall Be Satisfied
They Shall Be Satisfied
Some people are never satisfied. A number of rich people have commented on being actually driven to earn their next million. Guess that’s why Ecclesiastes 5:10 says,
He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income.
The senselessness of all these great efforts to get lots of money and more stuff, stuff, stuff, is what God is referring to in Isaiah 55:2,
Why do you spend money for what is not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
And delight yourself in abundance.
We cannot take any of the stuff in this world with us when we die. But, even with that knowledge, people want more and more stuff — even though it doesn’t honestly make them happy for more than a moment. So, what does God mean when He says, “delight yourself in abundance”?
God is talking about the “abundance” of living in faith, hope, and love. By faith we have the abundant knowledge of God’s care for us in all our needs — in hope we know that heaven is our real home — and we’ve received the satisfaction of a real love, knowing that God has first loved us. These are treasures money cannot buy.
All that “abundance” draws us close to God and leads us to want to live in His “righteousness”, which God gladly gives us through faith in Christ Jesus. So, Jesus taught in Matthew 5:6,
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
How good it is to be given the “righteousness” of Christ Jesus by faith that we may truly be “satisfied” for all eternity.
In the blessedness of being “satisfied”, we say, “Hallelujah! LORD, all we have is a gift from You. Thank You.”
A Christian devotional to glorify the LORD of lords and GOD of gods.
Pray for our country.
The LORD made this day, let us rejoice and be glad in Him.
The word of the LORD is tried;
He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones;
Praise is becoming to the upright.
How blessed are those who dwell in Thy house!
They are ever praising Thee.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.
Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
