Love Does No Wrong to a Neighbor

As we look around this world,  we see people wrecking other people’s property,  assaulting others  for no sensible reason,  looting,   slandering,  lying,  cheating,  etc.     And yet,  the attackers belligerently claim  to be  in the right  —  as they use all sorts  of foul words  and curses.

To honestly be  in the right,  a person must show  a biblical love  and care  for the welfare  of others.     That is why the apostle Paul wrote in Romans 13:8-10,

Owe nothing  to anyone  except to love one another;  for he who loves  his neighbor  has fulfilled  the law.     For this,  “YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY,  YOU SHALL NOT MURDER,  YOU SHALL NOT STEAL,  YOU SHALL NOT COVET,”  and if there is any other commandment,  it is summed up  in this saying,  “YOU SHALL LOVE  YOUR NEIGHBOR  AS YOURSELF.”

Love does no wrong  to a neighbor;  therefore love is the fulfillment  of the law.

When one is planning  and looking  to do evil,  they bring eternal judgment down upon themselves  —  even if they refuse to call their evil  evil.     We all know that  —  and it’s easy  to point out  the obviously flagrant sins  of others.     But,  what about  what is  in our own hearts  and doing?

Everyone is guilty  before the LORD.     1 John 1:8  reminds us,

If we say  that we have no sin,  we are deceiving ourselves,  and the truth  is not in us.

God wants us all  to keep on looking  to our Savior,  Christ Jesus  for the forgiveness  we personally  always need.     For the sake  of Christ’s  forgiving love  towards us,  we do  “no wrong  to a neighbor”.

Glad for God’s guiding words,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  thank You  for paying  the penalty  for all our sins,  so that we might  be free  to live  for You.”

Love,
Margaret
