In the Hidden Part

We all have a “hidden part”  —  a part of us  that we just keep  to ourselves  for various reasons.     Some people keep things  to themselves  for good,  loving reasons  —  and others  for evil intentions.     Even God Almighty keeps some things from us sinners,  because He knows  our frail,  sinful beings cannot handle it all.     But,  evil people  keep things  “hidden”  as they commit crimes  and sins  of various sorts.     They just don’t want  to pay the consequences  of their evil.

When King David confessed his sins,  he prayed  in Psalm 51:6,

Behold,  You desire truth  in the innermost being,
And in the hidden part  you will make me know  wisdom.

As much as David loved God,  he still sinned greatly  —  and was crushed  with guilt  when he could no longer hide his sin.

David begged the LORD  for cleansing  and forgiveness  as he remembered God’s compassion  and lovingkindness.     That  —  in God’s eyes  —  was the right thing to do.     So,  because of David’s faith,  God cleansed him  of all his sins  and restored him  as a true child of God.

We need  to be like David with our  “hidden” sins.

But,  the unrepentant  will stubbornly refuse  to admit their  “hidden” sins.      Whatever sins  they have committed,  they will not admit  their sins  —  and will even make hateful denials.

Seeing that,  we need  to look  at our own relationship  with the LORD.     So do we try  to deny our sins  before the LORD?     Or are we shamefully admitting  our sins  and asking God  for His mercy  —  as David did?     God desires  “truth”  in our innermost beings.     We can’t ever hide anything  from Him.     There’s no sense  in even trying.     So, like David,  we need  to confess our sins,  and beg  for cleansing.     God will surely grant it.

Then,  with our awesome gift  of forgiveness,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your blessing  of forgiveness.”

Love,
Margaret
