This Is the True Grace of God

Sometimes a person gets  to wondering  what  “the true grace  of God” is  in their particular lives.     The apostle Peter explains it  in 1 Peter 5:6-14.

First Peter says  that we need  to humbly serve God,  trusting Him  for all our needs  —  just because  “He cares for you”.   (verses 6-7)     Then Peter warns believers  about the devil’s  evil intent  “to devour” us.     The devil will always  be looking for ways  to take us down  and make us sin  and lose our salvation  with unbelief,  so we must stay  on guard.

All Christians  go through many temptations  of all sorts  —  but,  we are to “resist”  the devil’s temptations  by staying  “firm in your faith”.     Every temptation  has its own way  of making us suffer  and wonder about God’s love.     We might even think about giving up.     But,  Peter tells us  to firmly continue  putting our faith  in  “the God  of all grace”.     Why?     Because  after we have  “suffered for a little while”,  God will  perfectconfirmstrengthen  and establish you”.

We can’t do any of that  for ourselves.     It’s an impossibility.     But,  God will do it all  for us  —  and He uses sufferings  to work  all these wonders  in our lives.     So,  when we are suffering,  we need  to realize  that God is at work  in our lives  —  making us  into strong Christians,  who know  the blessed joy  of firmly being  with God forever.

Finally,  Peter testifies  in verse 12  that this is the true grace  of God.     Stand firm  in it!”

God Almighty purifies us  through trials.     We can trust Him  to keep on caring  for us  —  even when we are tempted  to doubt.     That is  “the true grace  of God”  in our personal lives.     “Stand firm  in it!”

Looking to our Savior  in every trial,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your true love  while creating  in us  sinners  clean hearts  and right spirits.”

Love,
Margaret
