Crucifixion of Christ

He Shall Bruise You on the Head

So much  of the time,  as we look  at all that is going on  in this world,  it seems very apparent  that evil  is victorious  over  almost everything  that is good and right.     But,  as they say,  looks are deceiving.     Therefore,  it is necessary  to take a good look  at all the evidence  at hand.      That is just one reason why Psalm 111:2  says,

Great  are the works  of the LORD;
They are studied  by all  who delight  in them.

That word  “studied”  in the Hebrew includes the meaning  of being sought out.     We need  to look for  “the works  of the LORD”  in everything around us  and throughout history.

That brings us to  “the works  of the LORD”  in bringing Christ  to this earth  to be our Savior.     Many “great” things happened  from man’s fall  into sin  and the coming  of Christ.     Just one thing is found  in Genesis 3:15,  where God promised  the serpent  who deceived Eve,

And I will put enmity
Between you  and the woman,
And between  your seed  and her seed;
He shall bruise you  on the head,
And you shall bruise him  on the heel.

There certainly has been “enmity”  between the descendants  of evil  and descendants  of God’s children  ever since.     But,  the  “seed”  of the woman brought the Christ Child,  of whom God said,  “He shall bruise you  on the head”.      A crushed head is certain death.     Satan’s death will be eternal.

Satan brought about  Jesus’ death  on the cross  —  a bruise  “on the heel”  —  but Jesus rose  from the dead  to live forever  as our King of kings.

As we celebrate  Christ’s birth  let us study  “the works  of the LORD”  in bringing about  our Savior  and what a miraculous thing  that was.

Grateful  for God’s eternal  and faithful love  in the miracle of Christ,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Thank You  for Your everlasting victory over  all evil.”

Love,
Margaret
