He Has Had Regard

He Has Had Regard

Whatever our situation  in this world,  we need  to know  that the LORD God Almighty  does have  “regard”  for everything that happens  in our seemingly insignificant lives.     The virgin Mary realized this  when she was chosen  to bear  the Christ Child.     In spite  of her humble condition  of just being a poor,  young virgin,  engaged to the carpenter, Joseph,  she was awed  by God’s close attention  to her  and choosing of her  to mother the Christ Child.

Obviously,  no one else will ever have this very same experience.     But,  nevertheless,  God does have regard  for each and every one of us.     Mary sang,  in Luke 1:48-49,

For He has had regard  for the humble state  of His bondslave;
For behold,  from this time on  all generations  will count me blessed.
For the Mighty One  has done great things  for me;
And holy  is His name.

When we serve God,  as “His bondslave”  He certainly has  “regard”  for us  —  “humble” though we may be  in our earthly,  seemingly insignificant lives.

We need  to remember  that Mary and Joseph did not live trouble-free lives,  just because they obeyed God  in raising the Christ Child.     Much rather,  they had the extra burdens  and fears  of escaping King Herod’s murderous intents towards Jesus  —  having to journey  to Egypt to save their lives  and the life  of Jesus  —  continuing in a life  of poverty  —  watching some people  and the religious leaders  reject Jesus  —  and finally,  Mary  having  to see Jesus crucified.

Would we have continued trusting God  through all this grief  the way Mary and Joseph did?

Altogether too often  we doubt God’s  “regard”  for our measly lives.     But,  in whatever trials  we are chosen  to bear,  we need  to be assured  that God truly loves  and has  “regard”  for our eternal salvation.

Praising God,  as Mary did,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  blessed be Your name  for having such high regard  for all  of Your children of faith.”

Love,
Margaret
