He Appeared in Order to Take Away Sin

It’s sad  how there are so many people  who are offended  at the mention  of Jesus  during the Christmas season.     They don’t even want  to talk  about their reasons  —  but just want  to get on  with a worldly celebration  in a search  for joy  and fun.

It seems their reasoning  includes  a denial  of the truth  about themselves  as sinners.     1 John 1:8  gently  and firmly says,

If we say  that we have no sin,  we are deceiving ourselves  and the truth  is not in us.

We’re not doing ourselves  any good  by denying  our sinful natures.      We may be very embarrassed  about our sins  —  or even proud  and defiant  about looking weak  in the eyes  of others.     But,  the truth  we need  to face  is in 1 John 3:5,

You know that He appeared  in order  to take away sins;  and in Him  there is no sin.

Unbelievers don’t find  any joy  in that.     Many boldly claim  they don’t have any sins  that need forgiving  because they’re just as good  or better  than others.     And,  they don’t believe  that Jesus truly had  “no sin”.     So,  they don’t want  to ruin a winter celebration  remembering their sins  as the reason  for Jesus’ birth.

Jesus performed many miracles  to prove  He was without sin  —  Immanuel  —  God with us.     No matter what people think  or say,  it’s still true,  “He appeared  in order  to take away sins”.     So,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Thank You,  LORD.”

Love,
Margaret
