God Is Not Mocked

As we live  in this world,  we will surely  hear people  mock God.     They mock the account  of God’s creation  of all things  —  they mock Jesus’ suffering,  death,  and resurrection  —  they mock the Bible  for showing  that Jesus is God  in the flesh  —  they mock Christian morals  —  and the list goes on.     So,  how is it  that Galatians 6:7 says,

Do not be deceived,  God is not mocked.

We need  to finish reading  that whole passage  to understand  how it is  that  God is not mocked.     The whole passage  in Galatians 6:7-9  says,

Do not  be deceived,  God  is not mocked;  for whatever a man sows,  this  he will also reap.     For the one  who sows  to his own flesh  shall  from the flesh  reap corruption,  but the one  who sows  to the Spirit  shall  from the Spirit  reap eternal life.

And let us not  lose heart  in doing good,  for in due time  we shall reap  if we do not  grow weary.

It is a fact  of nature  in this world,  that if we plant the seeds  of thorny weeds,  we’re going to reap  thorny weeds.     If we plant corn seed,  we get corn.     That very same fact  of nature  is always true  in our daily lives  also.     The evils we choose  to plant  in our lives  will grow  and spread  to make our lives miserable  —  and worthless.     If we choose  to plant God’s word  in our lives,  we will be blessed  unto eternal life.     God’s goodness  grows  peace within us.

God is not weak  or unable  to give eternal judgment  against all those  who arrogantly defy  His holiness,  authority,  and salvation  through Christ Jesus alone.     All those  who imagine  that they are mighty  in their corrupt life styles,  lies,  and foul words  surely will end up  in eternal corruption.     Even  in this life  their sins  will bring harm  in their lives.     The consequences  they feel  in this life  are only small reminders  from God  that they need  to shape up.

God’s love  for every one  of us sinful beings  is so profound  that our Savior continually  offers us  all sorts  of opportunities  to repent.     Each time  we suffer  the consequences  of our sins,  God is giving us  yet another chance.     If we refuse  to turn  to God  in faith,  we are condemning ourselves  to hell.     So, in the end,  “God is not mocked”.

When we let the beauty  of God’s truths grow  in our hearts,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  the absolute beauty  of Your perfect salvation  brings a joy  far beyond words.”

Love,
Margaret
