Metamorphosis

Butterflies are so beautiful  and come  in all sorts  of colors  and sizes.     It’s a wonder  to watch them flit along  and do their thing  in life.     Sometimes we forget the process  that gives a butterfly  its beauty  and strength.

It’s really  just like the process  we need  to go through.

When the butterfly is ready  to emerge  from its cocoon,  it absolutely must go through the process  of struggling  to get out  of that extremely tight spot.     If you try  to help it along,  it will become malformed,  crippled,  and unable to fly.     If it can’t fly,  it can’t eat  or do other butterfly things.     The end result  will be death.

God’s plan  for us  is the same.     If we are  to become beautiful children of God,  free to go about  and do wonderful,  good things  for all eternity,  we must go through the struggles  of all sorts  of trials  and challenges  in this life  —  and come out with shining colors.

As the butterfly’s intense struggles work  to shape it to perfection,  so our intense struggles  shape within us  a beautiful,  saving faith.     If our cocoon is damaged,  we are damaged  and may even die.

What is our cocoon compared to?     It is all the truths we know  about God  from His eternal,  proven word.     We are “wrapped”  in the protective covering  of God’s salvation  through Jesus Christ alone.     The intention is  that we face  all the necessary struggles  of this life,  in order  to develop a beautiful  and true faith — one that will live  through all eternity.

So,  if someone were to suggest  to us  that there is an “easy way out”  of all the struggles  of our faith  in Jesus,  we must not let ourselves  be tempted  to take that easy way out.     It will be a crippling  of what we could be  in Christ  and a certain death  for all eternity.

As Paul says in Romans 5:3-5,

We also exult  in our tribulations,  knowing that tribulation  brings about perseverance,  and perseverance,  proven character;  and proven character,  hope;  and hope does not disappoint,  because the love of God  has been poured out  within our hearts  through the Holy Spirit  who was given to us.

So, is your faith growing  and getting stronger  and stronger  as you struggle  in facing the trials  and temptations  of your life?     Will your metamorphosis  develop you  into a gloriously strong follower  of truth,  who will be beautiful  and free  for all eternity?

When our strong faith carries us  into heaven,  we will proclaim,  “Hallelujah!     God’s word  made me strong  for Him!”

Love,
Margaret
