In His Heart
In His Heart
There is so much we don’t know about other people’s hearts and intentions. One might want to think another person is a friend, but later discovers that he has been greatly taken advantage of. Such experiences hurt deeply. The so-called friend had no love for God and no good intentions for God’s children.
King David spoke about such people and said about them in Psalm 53:1,
The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God,”
They are corrupt, and have committed abominable injustice;
There is no one who does good.
In verse 2 David had called them “the sons of men”. That’s saying they live only for the stuff in this world, and have no regard for God, other people, or righteousness. They are not really children of God. Deep down in their “heart”, they mockingly say, “There is no God.” They might put on an act of being righteous and religious, but that’s only an act. In unbelief, they don’t care about God’s love, authority, and salvation.
Because they despisingly take advantage of God’s children, David says of them in verse 4,
Have the workers of wickedness no knowledge,
Who eat up My people as though they ate bread
And have not called upon God?
In their unbelief, “the sons of men” don’t realize that nonchalantly taking down God’s children will bring God’s eternal judgment upon them. David says in verse 5 that come judgment, they will have “shame, because God had rejected them.”
Instead of foolishly rejecting God’s truths, everyone really needs to see, understand, respect, and believe the words God sets before us. Realizing God’s patient love and righteous judgment, we humbly say, “Hallelujah! LORD, thank You for Your faithful care. Create in us clean hearts and right spirits.”
A Christian devotional to glorify the LORD of lords and GOD of gods.
Pray for our country.
The LORD made this day, let us rejoice and be glad in Him.
The word of the LORD is tried;
He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones;
Praise is becoming to the upright.
How blessed are those who dwell in Thy house!
They are ever praising Thee.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.
Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
