The LORD Will Bless His People With Peace

People think  of various ways  of having “peace”.     One might think  of getting away  from the noise  and bustle  of city streets  or the noise  of children squabbling.     “Peace” might even mean  getting away  from constant media blaring  or the stress  in one’s  job.     “Peace” is also seen  in getting away  from argumentative,  feisty people.

In every sort  of situation,  King David says  in Psalm 29:11,

The LORD  will give strength  to His people;
The LORD  will bless His people  with peace.

That’s a promise.     And we see  that this “peace” is not given  to everyone  —  just to God’s  “people”.     God’s  “people”  have a special  “peace”  in every sort  of situation  because they are believing in  and trusting  in God’s promises.     They have the blessedness  of knowing  that God will work everything out  to their good  in the end.

When God’s “people”  are being sorely tempted  with false doctrines,  worldly sins,  or harassment  from those who hate them,  they still have  a special “peace”  that does not let them “stumble”  into sin  and away  from God’s love.    So,  Psalm 119:165 promises,

Those who love Your law  have great peace,
And nothing causes them  to stumble.

It’s good to know  that God is caring  for us,  even when we are  being assaulted  by this world.     In all the turmoil  of this world,  we have a Savior,  Christ Jesus our Lord.     He not only gives us  the “peace”  of sins forgiven,  but also the “peace”  of showing us the way  through this life.     So,  we have joy  in Isaiah 9:6,

For a child  will be born to us,  a son  will be given  to us;
And the government  will rest  on His shoulders;
And His name  will be called  Wonderful Counselor,  Mighty God,
Eternal Father,  Prince of Peace.

Resting  in God’s “Peace”,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  thank You  for abiding  in us  as we abide  in You.”

Love,
Margaret
