Therefore, We Are Ambassadors

Therefore We Are Ambassadors

Sometimes we have the impression  that only people  who are professionals  in the ministry  can be “ambassadors for Christ”.     The thought is  that we are just a housewife,  a mechanic,  a computer specialist,  a farmer,  a store clerk,  or whatever our daily “job” might be.

But,  there is more to our lives  than that.    Paul tells us  why there is more  to our lives  in 2 Corinthians 5:14-15,

For the love  of Christ  controls us,  having concluded this,  that one died  for all,   therefore all died;  and He died  for all,  that they who live  should no longer live  for themselves,  but for Him  who died  and rose again  on their behalf.

Whatever our occupation,  the love of Christ  causes us  to want others  to have the gift  of salvation.     When we know  that we are loved  by the Lord God Almighty,  and that He has freely given us  the gift  of salvation  in Christ,  we want others  to also experience the love  of God.

Knowing God’s love  for us  changes us.    As  1 John 4:19 says,

We love,  because He first  loved us.

Knowing God’s love  enables us  to truly love others  and actually care  about their eternal salvation.     As we think about how  we have literally escaped  eternal damnation  just because we have accepted  God’s love  by faith,  we surely want others  to also escape  that horrible demise.

With this knowledge  of God’s love  in our hearts,  our daily jobs  take on a new aspect.    We become  more than just a factory worker,  sales rep,  or whatever  our job might be.    It’s as Paul explains  in 2 Corinthians 5:19-21,

God was  in Christ  reconciling the world  to Himself,  not counting  their trespasses  against them,  and He has committed  to us  the word  of reconciliation.

Therefore,  we are ambassadors  for Christ,  as though God  were entreating through us;  we beg you  on behalf of Christ,  be reconciled  to God.     He made Him  who knew no sin  to be sin  on our behalf,  that we might become  the righteousness of God  in Him.

When God gave us  this gift  of salvation,  He did not intend  for us  to hoard it  only for ourselves.    God wants us  to share this precious gift  with every one  around us.     That’s why God  shared His word  with us  in the first place  —  He wants us  to be saved  —  and He wants us  to bring others  to salvation.

It is with thankful  and loving hearts  that we share God’s promise  of salvation  with all  who need Him.     And we all  certainly do need Christ  as our Savior  —  because there is no other.

As we seriously look  at the love given  to us  in Christ,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  only You  can help us  to truly be  the kind of ambassadors  You desire  in our life’s situation.     Thank You  for being  by our side.”

Love,
Margaret
