You Have Dealt Well With Your Servant

You Have Dealt Well With Your Servant

Different people face different problems  and challenges  in life.     What is awesome  is that  as we look back  on our lives,  it seems  that our problems and challenges  are tailor made  —  just for each  of us.     They are actually  good for us.     God is faithfully supporting His children  through all their troubles  —  and in His leading,  He is constantly strengthening us  in learning His truths.     We need  to be thankful.

The writer  of Psalm 119  was thankful  for all the afflictions God allowed  in his life,  because they taught him  the reality  of God’s loving care  in all dire circumstances.     He wrote in Psalm 119:65-72,

You have dealt well  with Your servant,
O LORD,  according to Your word.

Teach me  good discernment  and knowledge,
For I believe  in Your commandments.

Before I was afflicted  I went astray,
But now  I keep Your word.

You are good  and do good;
Teach me  Your statutes.

The arrogant  have forged a lie  against me;
With all my heart  I will observe  Your precepts.

Their heart  is covered  with fat,
But I delight  in Your law.

It is good  for me  that I was afflicted,
That I may learn  Your statutes

The law  of Your mouth  is better  to me
Than thousands of gold  and silver pieces.

We don’t like our troubles,  but they do make us look  to God  and pray.     They do make us hope  in God  for relief.     And then,  when relief comes,  it’s wonderful  —  even though  we sometimes sin  by forgetting  to thank the LORD.

Learning  to trust  in the LORD  in every affliction  will give us  the reward  of eternal life  —  free from all sin  and troubles  of every sort.     So,  most certainly,  trusting God  is worth infinitely more  than all the “gold  and silver”  in the world.

Glad  for God’s lessons  in trust,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Thank You,  LORD,  for Your faithful lessons  in love and trust.”

A Christian devotional  to glorify  the LORD of lords  and GOD of gods.

Pray for our country.
