For the LORD Is a Great God

February 26, 2017

For the LORD Is a Great God

Most people  like to know why  we need  to do certain things  in a particular way.     There should be a good reason.     Psalm 95  is a psalm  that gives reasons.      Psalm 95:1-7 says,

O come,  let us sing for joy  to the LORD,
Let us shout joyfully  to the rock  of our salvation.

Let us come  before His presence  with thanksgiving,
Let us shout joyfully  to Him  with psalms.

For  the LORD  is a great God
And a great King  above all gods,
In whose hand  are the depths  of the earth,
The peaks  of the mountains  are His also.

The sea is His,  for it was He  who made it,
And His hands formed  the dry land.

Come,  let us worship  and bow down,
Let us kneel  before the LORD  our Maker.

For  He is our God,
And we are   the people  of His pasture   and the sheep  of His hand.

So,  why should we  be singing joyfully  and having really thankful hearts?      With the world  in such a mess  and all the troubles we have,  don’t we have reason  to be grumpy,  complaining,  and depressed?     Not really.     Not at all.

Why?     God is our “salvation”.     This world is not  all that there is.     Our real home  is in heaven  and “the LORD”,  who is  “a great God”  is leading us there.     The LORD  is  “a great King  above all gods”.     He’s our Creator,  King,  Father,  Shepherd,  Savior,  Comforter,  and much more.

So,  what do we have  to complain about?     Because we are  in God’s care  —  the Almighty’s care  —  and we are saved through faith  in Christ Jesus,  we should not sin  by complaining  about God’s lessons  in faith,  hope,  and love,  while traveling through this life.

So,  with thankful hearts,  we joyfully say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for shepherding us  through this life.”

A Christian devotional  to glorify  the LORD of lords  and GOD of gods.

Pray for our country.
