For You Yourselves Are Taught By God

The first Christians  realized  that their lives became different  when they accepted  God’s love  towards them  through Christ Jesus.    Because of God’s love  for them,  they learned  to honestly love their  “brethren”.     So,  Paul wrote  in 1 Thessalonians 4:9-10,

Now as to the love  of the brethren,  you have no need  for anyone  to write to you,  for you yourselves  are taught by God  to love one another;  for indeed  you do practice it  toward all the brethren  who are  in all Macedonia.

In their love  and unity  in the true faith,  they had to face  false teachers and preachers.     No true Christian wants to be deceived  into false doctrines.     So,  there is a great concern  for what is true.     1 John 2:25-29  addresses that,

This is the promise  which He Himself made  to us:  eternal life.

These things  I have written to you  concerning those  who are trying  to deceive you.      As for you,  the anointing  which you received  from Him  abides in you,  and you have no need   for anyone  to teach you;   but as His anointing  teaches you  about all things,  and is true  and is not a lie,   and just as it  has taught you,  you abide  in Him.

Now,  little children,  abide in Him,  so that when He appears,  we may have confidence  and not shrink away  from Him  in shame  at His coming.      If you know  that He is righteous,  you know  that everyone also  who practices righteousness  is born  of Him.

We need  to pay close attention  to all of these words.     When we  “abide  in Him”,  we stay close  to God  by studying His word  to us.     We spend time  in prayer  as we remember God’s love  for us  in Christ Jesus.     We remember  that God created us,  sustains us,  and will be our Judge  for all eternity.

In respect  for all that,  we live according to God’s word  —  not according to man-made teachings  or worldly ways.

Glad that God  desires to teach us  His truths,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for letting us abide  in You  through Your word.”

Love,
Margaret
