Completely On the Grace

When Christians  go through trials,  doubts,  and fears,  they might be apt  to wonder  a bit  about their faith.     Is it worth it?     The early Christians went through all sorts  fearsome tribulations.     To encourage them,  the apostle Peter  reminded them  of the overwhelming greatness  of their reward  at the end  of this life.     Our reward in heaven  is worth so much more than all the gold  that perishes.

Peter also reminded  his fellow Christians  of how all the Old Testament prophets  had prophesied  many details  about the Savior,  proving that Christ Jesus  truly was the Savior.      We need  to always remember  that it is impossible  to have so many  prophecies made  over thousands  of years,  all come true  in the one man,  Jesus.

Over the years,  there have been many false prophets  claiming other things,  but their prophecies  never came true.     They have set dates  for the end  of the world  and other happenings  —  none of which happened.

That’s why we look  to the Old Testament,  which can be depended on  for God’s word.     Both the Old and New Testaments  tell us about God’s  “grace”  and forgiveness  through faith  in the Savior.     So,  Peter tells us all  in 1 Peter 1:13,

Therefore,  prepare your minds  for action,  keep sober  in spirit,  fix your hope completely  on the grace  to be brought  to you  at the revelation  of Jesus Christ.

We can’t afford  to be dawdling along  through life  —  imagining  that we’ll have plenty  of time  to get in God’s  “grace”  at the very end  of our lives.      We need to  “prepare your minds  for action”  now,  because we don’t know  what tomorrow will bring.

Remembering  that this worldly life  will end,  we need to  “fix your hope completely  on the grace  to be brought  to you  at the revelation  of Jesus Christ”.     Time flies.

Looking to God’s  “grace”,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your faithful love.”

Love,
Margaret
