Sanctify Christ As Lord in Your Hearts

Sanctify Christ As Lord in Your Hearts

Ever since Christ Jesus came  to earth,  those who believe  in Him  have been intimidated  and scorned.     Even when Jesus was born,  king Herod sought  to kill Him.     When He began His ministry,  there were those who scorned  His knowledge  of God’s word.     And,  at the end of His ministry,  there were those  who hated Him  so much  that they planned  to kill Him.

So,  what makes us  any better  than Christ Jesus?

When the early Christians  were persecuted,  the apostle Peter wrote to them  —  and we should remember  that Peter was crucified upside down.     Peter wrote  in 1 Peter 3:13-17,

Who is there  to harm you  if you prove zealous  for what is good?     But  even if  you should suffer  for the sake  of righteousness,  you are blessed.      AND DO NOT FEAR  THEIR INTIMIDATION,  AND DO NOT BE TROUBLED,     but sanctify Christ  as Lord  in your hearts,  always being ready  to make a defense  to everyone  who asks you  to give an account  for the hope  that is in you,   yet with gentleness  and reverence;    and keep a good conscience  so that  in the thing  in which you are slandered,  those who revile  your good behavior  in Christ  will be put  to shame.     For it is better,  if God should will it so,  that you suffer  for doing  what is right  rather than  for doing  what is wrong.

Whatever  intimidations  and harm  might come  to our earthly lives,  when we  “sanctify Christ  as Lord”  in our hearts,  we  “are blessed”.     We are  “blessed”  as we put our “hope”  in Christ  —  “keep a good conscience”  —  and “suffer for doing  what is right”.

In all that  we are following Christ’s example,  when He died  for our sins.     In following Christ  in truth,  we  “sanctify Christ as Lord”.

Glad  for Christ’s eternal blessings,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  You are so marvelous  for forgiving all  of our sins.     Strengthen us  to always sanctify You  with our whole lives.”

Love,
Margaret
