He Will Take of Mine and Will Disclose It

He Will Take of Mine and Will Disclose It

In His last hours,  Jesus spoke  to His disciples  —  to those  who had followed Him  for three years  and believed  in Him.     They didn’t know everything  about their Master  and Teacher,  but they did know  He spoke the true words  of God.     In that fellowship,  Jesus comforted them  by referring  to the Holy Spirit,  and saying  in  John 16:14,

He will glorify Me,  for He will take  of Mine  and will disclose it  to you.

When Jesus would be gone  from them,  the Holy Spirit  would be near  to “glorify” Jesus,  and “disclose” details  of proof  that Jesus truly was  the long-promised Savior.     The Holy Spirit would do this  for the disciples  because they would need  God’s guidance  after viewing  Jesus’ suffering  and death  on the cross.     God didn’t want them  to lose faith  —  but to grow in faith,  hope,  and love.

Jesus’ resurrection  and the Holy Spirit’s witness  are why the apostle John was able to say  in John 1:1,

In the beginning  was the Word,  and the Word was  with God,  and the Word  was God.

The Holy Spirit also brought  to John’s remembrance  that Jesus said  in John 5:24,

Truly,  truly,  I say to you,  he who hears My word,  and believes Him  who sent Me,  has eternal life,  and does not come  into judgment,  but has passed out  of death  into life.

That’s God’s assurance  to all of us.     And when John  had a revelation  of God’s eternal glory,  he was able  to describe Jesus  in Revelation 19:13,  by saying,

He is clothed  with a robe dipped  in blood,  and His name  is called  The Word of God.

Jesus is God’s promise of forgiveness  to all of us  and our assurance  that Jesus is the fulfillment  of God’s promises  of a Savior.

In the wonder  of fulfilled prophecies,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  all of Your word  in the Bible  is trustworthy.”

Love,
Margaret
