Thoughts and Ways
Thoughts and Ways
Boy, do we ever have “thoughts” about everything and “ways” of dealing with things in our lives. Each and everyone of us applies our “thoughts” to our “ways”.
But, the bottom line is that God’s “thoughts” and “ways” are always infinitely better than ours — so far beyond our comprehension that we actually have trouble comprehending. But, we really need to think about it.
Isaiah 55 is God’s invitation to everyone to come and freely — most freely — partake of His word and promises of full forgiveness and a new direction in this earthly life. God invites even the “wicked” — that includes absolutely everyone — to change their “ways” and “thoughts”, so that the Lord may have “compassion” on them.
In the first part of Isaiah 55, God reminded everyone that King David is an example to all of us. He was definitely a sinner — to say the least — but, he always humbly and sincerely turned to God for “compassion” and forgiveness. It was that humble heart that God so dearly loved. That humble heart of David is why God called him a “man after My own heart”.
In that context, Isaiah 55:6-9 invites us,
Seek the LORD while He may be found;
Call upon Him while He is near.
Let the wicked forsake his way
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
And let him return to the LORD,
And He will have compassion on him,
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts.”
God wants to forgive every sinner that turns to Him. That’s awesome — mind boggling — that God really wants every one of us to turn to Him for forgiveness — just like King David did.
So, we just say, “Hallelujah! LORD, Your love is beyond comprehension.”
A Christian devotional to glorify the LORD of lords and GOD of gods.
Pray for our country.
The LORD made this day, let us rejoice and be glad in Him.
The word of the LORD is tried;
He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones;
Praise is becoming to the upright.
How blessed are those who dwell in Thy house!
They are ever praising Thee.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.
Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
