Your King Is Coming to You

Your King Is Coming to You

A promise was made  about 500 years before  it was fulfilled.     That promise was made  in Zechariah 9:9,

Rejoice greatly,  O daughter of Zion!
Shout  in triumph,  O daughter  of Jerusalem!
Behold,  your king is coming  to you;
He is just  and endowed  with salvation,
Humble,  and mounted  on a donkey,
Even on a colt,  the foal  of a donkey.

The prophet Zechariah  prophesied  Jesus’ entry  into Jerusalem  on what we celebrate  as Palm Sunday.     On that day,  the people welcomed Jesus  as their King  and prophet  from God.     How do we know?     In Matthew 21:9  it says  they were shouting,

Hosanna to the Son of David;
BLESSED IS HE  WHO COMES  IN THE NAME  OF THE LORD;
Hosanna in the highest!”

By calling Jesus  “the Son  of David,  they acknowledged Jesus  as their King.     Then,  when other people  in Jerusalem wondered  who Jesus was,  the crowds answered  in Matthew 21:10,

This is the prophet Jesus,  from Nazareth  in Galilee.

When the crowds exclaimed,  “Hosanna!”  they were saying,  “Oh,  save!”  in the Hebrew language,  which is an exclamation  of adoration.

We,  too,  need to realize this.     Jesus was descended  from the lineage  of King David  and He is our eternal King.     It is as Revelation 19:16 says  about Jesus,

And on His robe  and on His thigh  He has a name written,  “KING  OF KINGS,  AND LORD  OF LORDS.”

In other words,  there is no other king  or lord.     Jesus is over all.

As we honor Jesus  as our King and Prophet,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD Jesus,  thank You  for coming  to save us  from all our sins.     Blessed be Your name  forever!”

Love,
Margaret
