Hear My Prayer, O LORD

Hear My Prayer, O LORD

Our reasons  for needing answered prayer  cannot even be counted.     All sorts of things  in this world  present every sort of problem imaginable  —  and unimaginable.     Since the LORD is almighty  and knows  what is best for us,  we do need  to look  to Him  for all our needs.     King David did  —  and was blessed  for his faith.     David wrote  in Psalm 143:1-2,

Hear my prayer,  O LORD,
Give ear  to my supplications!
Answer me  in Your faithfulnessin Your righteousness!

And do not enter  into judgment  with Your servant,
For in Your sight  no man living  is righteous.

David was no stranger  to prayer.       And he knew his position  as a sinner  before His holy Creator.     He admits right from the very beginning  that God is the  “righteous” one  —  and that David is just  a sinner  pleading  for mercy.     As David points out,  not one person  in this world  can be “righteous”  in God’s sight.

There are those  who imagine  they are  “righteous”  in God’s sight,  but such arrogance  condemns them  because they are lying straight  to God’s face.     God liked answering David’s prayers  because David was humble enough  to admit his sinfulness  —  and David had a sure faith  that trusted  in God’s “righteousness”.

Whether David was  in the heat  of a battle,  suffering from someone’s slander,  or in some other trial,  he always realized  that whatever happened,  God was “faithful”  and  “righteous”.     From all that David knew  from creation,  history,  and personal experience,  he always recognized God’s “faithfulness”  and “righteousness”.

As we pray,  we need  to look around us  and see what God has done  in this creation  —  all of history as His prophecies are fulfilled  —  and  in the blessings  of our personal lives.

As we ask God  to “hear”  our  “prayer”,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  blessed be Your name  as you answer us  in Your faithfulness  and righteousness.”

Love,
Margaret
