Your Name

The name  of the LORD God  is to be respected  and honored  above all names.     Sadly,  so many people show nothing  but a lack of respect  for God  —  and His authority over them.     Ultimately,  we will all  have to give  an account  of everything we say,  do,  and feel.     It is only through faith  in Christ Jesus  that all of our sins  can be erased  before our Judgment Day.

King David  had a very close relationship  with God  through prayer  and a study  of God’s word.     That is why  he was able  to express  in Psalm 9:10,

And those  who know Your name  will put their trust  in You,
For You,  O LORD,  have not forsaken  those who seek You.

To  “know”  God’s  “name”  is much more  than being able  to list  all the names  of God  in the Bible.     To  “know”  God’s  “name”  is to “know”  all that He is,  which includes Creator,  Redeemer,  Father,  Son,  Holy Spirit,  Judge,  Teacher,  etc.     Every name  that describes God  shows how almighty,  loving,  kind,  forgiving,  and holy  He is.     That’s what we need  to  “know”.

When we realize  all that,  we will be able  to put our  “trust”  in Him alone.     Surely,  we  “know” we can’t  “trust” a known liar,  thief,  or criminal.     That would be foolish.

But,  with all  of our challenges  and tribulations  in this world,  it is important  to be assured  that we can  “trust”  in the LORD  through life  —  and in death.     We can  “trust”  God when we  “know”  His  “name”  —  and that comes through learning  His word,  realizing  that He alone  has the power  to fulfill all His prophecies  over thousands  of years.     That is why Romans 10:17  says,

So faith  comes from hearing,  and hearing  by the word  of Christ.

The Bible is filled with accounts  of God’s loving faithfulness  in all sorts  of dire situations.     Because God faithfully helped  all those sinners,  we can “know”  that He will help us also.

In faith,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your eternal  trustworthiness  as we seek You  in Your word.”

Love,
Margaret
